Statement of Intent

At Moreno Boxing, the health, safety, and wellbeing of all members, coaches, staff, volunteers, and visitors is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, clean, professional, and inclusive training environment for everyone participating in boxing, fitness, and strength & conditioning activities.

This policy outlines the responsibilities, procedures, and standards expected within the gym to minimise risk, prevent injury, and promote safe participation in all activities.

Medical & Health Requirements

  • Participants train at their own risk and should seek medical advice before starting any intense physical activity.
  • Members must disclose relevant medical conditions, injuries, medications, or physical limitations before training.
  • Anyone showing signs of illness, infection, dizziness, or concussion symptoms should not participate.
  • Members must stop training immediately if instructed by a coach for safety reasons.

Protective Equipment

The following equipment is strongly recommended or mandatory during sessions:

Damaged or unsafe equipment must not be used.

Sparring & Contact Training

  • Sparring is only permitted under coach supervision.
  • Beginners may not spar until deemed ready by a coach.
  • Unsafe or excessive contact will not be tolerated.
  • Coaches reserve the right to stop any sparring session immediately.
  • Participants showing aggressive, reckless, or disrespectful behaviour may be removed from sessions.

Gym Hygiene & Cleanliness

To maintain a safe and hygienic environment:

  • Members must clean shared equipment after use where applicable.
  • Gloves and personal equipment should be kept clean and dry.
  • No food is permitted in training areas.
  • Spillages must be reported immediately.
  • Waste must be disposed of responsibly.

Emergency Procedures

In the event of an accident or emergency:

  1. Stop training immediately.
  2. Notify a coach or staff member.
  3. First aid will be administered where appropriate.
  4. Emergency services will be contacted if required.
  5. An incident report may be completed and recorded.

Fire Safety

  • Fire exits must remain clear at all times.
  • Members must follow staff instructions during evacuations.
  • No smoking or vaping is permitted inside the facility.
  • Electrical equipment should only be used by authorised personnel.

Safeguarding & Conduct

Moreno Boxing is committed to creating a respectful and inclusive environment.

The following will not be tolerated:

  • Bullying
  • Harassment
  • Discrimination
  • Violence outside of supervised training
  • Inappropriate behaviour towards staff or members

Risk Acknowledgement

Boxing and fitness training involve physical contact and exertion which carry an inherent risk of injury. By participating in training activities, members acknowledge and accept these risks while agreeing to follow all gym safety procedures and coaching instructions.

This Health & Safety Policy will be reviewed regularly and updated where necessary to maintain best practice standards and compliance with UK health and safety guidance.
